Role: Biology Lecturer Location: West Yorkshire Type: Temporary - Part Time Rate: £30 - £37 per hour Eden Brown are seeking an enthusiastic Biology Lecturer for a Further Education College in West Yorkshire to join their Applied Science Team This is a part time temporary role to start asap. Looking for someone around 2.5-3 days per week. Initially this will be until October half term The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching across Level 2 and Level 3 Applied Science, supporting students to develop their theoretical knowledge, practical laboratory skills and understanding of biological principles. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate Biology professional who enjoys working with young people and is committed to helping students achieve their academic and vocational goals. Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging Biology and Applied Science lessons to Level 2 and Level 3 students.
- Teach a range of biological topics relevant to the Applied Science curriculum.
- Develop students theoretical knowledge alongside practical laboratory skills.
- Prepare and deliver practical experiments and activities in line with health and safety requirements.
- Assess students work, provide constructive feedback and monitor progress.
- Support students in preparing for examinations and assessments.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, achievement and learner progress.
- Provide appropriate support and guidance to students to help them reach their full potential.
- Contribute to course planning, development and quality improvement activities.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues within the Science and Applied Science department.
- Ensure all teaching and learning meets the colleges quality standards and expectations.
The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will ideally have:
- A relevant degree or recognised qualification in Biology, Biological Sciences or a closely related subject.
- Teaching experience within Further Education, sixth form or a similar educational setting.
- Experience delivering Level 2 and/or Level 3 Applied Science.
- Strong subject knowledge across Biology and the ability to apply this to vocational Science programmes.
- Experience delivering practical laboratory-based teaching.
- A recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS or equivalent is desirable.
