We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Locum Consultant Gastroenterologist to join our established Gastroenterology Department.
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a collaborative and forward-thinking team committed to delivering high-quality gastrointestinal and hepatology services. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting both elective and acute gastroenterology services while contributing to the continued development of specialist gastrointestinal care.
We welcome applications from newly qualified consultants approaching CCT as well as experienced consultants seeking to further develop a subspecialty interest within a large, supportive department.
About the Role
The successful applicant will contribute to the delivery of comprehensive gastroenterology services across inpatient, outpatient and endoscopy settings.
Working within an experienced multidisciplinary team, you will help provide safe, timely and patient-centred care while supporting ongoing service development and quality improvement initiatives.

Main Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
Delivering consultant-led care for gastroenterology inpatients.
Providing outpatient gastroenterology clinics.
Undertaking diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy.
Participating in the consultant gastroenterology ward rota.
Supporting the delivery of inpatient gastroenterology referrals.
Participating in the consultant on-call rota for General Medicine, subject to departmental requirements.
Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues to deliver high-quality gastroenterology and hepatology services.
Contributing to service development, clinical governance and quality improvement projects.
Supervising and supporting junior medical staff.
Participating in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and training.

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
MRCP (UK) or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
Full GMC registration with a licence to practise by the commencement date.
European Specialty Examination in Gastroenterology & Hepatology (or equivalent).
Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification.
Applicants should also hold GMC Specialist Registration in Gastroenterology, be within six months of obtaining CCT at the time of interview, or be progressing through the CESR/Portfolio Pathway with appropriate documentary evidence where applicable.
Desirable Qualifications
Higher medical or scientific degree relevant to Gastroenterology or Hepatology.

Evidence of independent clinical practice.
Experience making complex clinical decisions and managing clinical risk.
