Project Manager
Location: Hertfordshire Salary: £50,000 - £56,000 depending on experience Working Pattern: Hybrid working, typically 2-3 days per week on site Security Clearance: British Citizen or Dual UK National with British citizenship. Successful candidates will be required to undergo BPSS clearance as a minimum.
The Opportunity
We're supporting a leading defence organisation in the search for a Senior Project Manager to join a growing and highly successful project management community.
This is an opportunity to work across the full programme lifecycle, supporting both business-winning activities and the delivery of complex engineering programmes. You'll play a key role in shaping future opportunities, developing winning propositions and ensuring successful delivery against customer, cost, schedule and performance commitments.
Working in a highly collaborative environment, you'll engage with engineering, commercial, finance, supply chain and customer stakeholders while helping to deliver some of the UK's most advanced defence programmes.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the planning, execution and delivery of complex projects and programmes. Support bid, proposal and business-winning activities, helping develop compelling and achievable customer solutions. Manage project schedules, costs, risks and resources throughout the programme lifecycle. Build strong relationships with customers, partners and internal stakeholders. Coordinate multi-functional teams to achieve programme objectives. Support programme governance, reporting and decision-making activities. Drive proactive risk and opportunity management. Contribute to project estimating, forecasting and resource planning. Ensure delivery commitments are achieved while maintaining quality, cost and schedule objectives. Promote continuous improvement and project management best practice.
What We're Looking For
Previous Project or Programme Management experience, ideally within engineering, manufacturing, aerospace or defence environments. Experience operating within a matrix organisation. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills. Experience managing programme risk, cost and schedule performance. Understanding of project controls, schedule management and Earned Value Management (EVM). Experience influencing and negotiating across multiple functions. Commercial awareness and sound business judgement. Ability to work effectively within complex and evolving environments. Bid, proposal or business-winning experience would be advantageous. Professional project management qualifications (APM, Prince2, PMP or equivalent) are beneficial.
