, United Kingdom Job Family Group: Trading Jobs Worker Type: Regular Posting Start Date: September 1, 2026 Business Unit: Trading and Supply Experience Level: Experienced Professionals Job Description: What’s the role The Real-Time Market Data & Analytics Lead is a senior technical and business leadership role within the Market Data & Trading Tools capability, responsible for driving the adoption, optimisation, governance, and evolution of Shell Energy’s real-time market data and analytics capabilities. Reporting to the Head of Market Data & Trading Tools within the Chief Data Office, the role will act as the senior authority for low-latency market data, ticker plants, market microstructure analytics, L1/L2/L3 data, time-series platforms, streaming architectures, and real-time data consumption across Front Office, Quantitative Analytics, Risk, Commercial Operations, and Trading Technology. The role holder will work closely with trading desks, quants, execution teams, architects, engineers, technology teams, and vendors to ensure real-time market data is acquired, normalised, distributed, governed, analysed, and consumed effectively across the enterprise. The role requires practical experience designing, building, operating, or optimising real-time market data platforms used by trading, execution, market making, or quantitative teams within commodities trading firms, investment banks, exchanges, brokers, execution services, or market data vendors. Success will be measured through improved platform adoption, performance, reliability, data quality, governance, operational efficiency, analytical capability, and business value delivered to traders, quants, and commercial stakeholders. What you’ll be doing
- Strategy Execution & Capability Enablement
Partner with the Head of Market Data & Trading Tools to execute the real-time market data and analytics strategy across Shell Energy Trading. Translate strategic objectives into scalable capabilities, implementation roadmaps, standards, and measurable business outcomes. Drive adoption of enterprise real-time market data platforms, analytics services, and common operating standards. Continuously assess the real-time market data ecosystem to identify opportunities to improve performance, scalability, resilience, automation, reuse, and business value.
- Market Data Acquisition, Connectivity & Distribution
Provide technical leadership for low-latency market data acquisition, distribution, and integration architectures. Support integration of market data from exchanges, brokers, ECNs, trading venues, OTC markets, and strategic market data vendors. Drive adoption of standard FIX connectivity, feed handler patterns, real-time integration models, and enterprise distribution standards. Improve accessibility, consistency, reliability, and reuse of real-time market data across downstream trading, risk, analytics, and operational platforms. Support consumption across ETRM, Front Office, and Quantitative platforms, including Align, Endur, pricing, execution, trading analytics, risk management, decision-support, tick data, modelling, forecasting, and research workflows.
