Job Advertisement: Management Accountant - Development

Our client, a prominent organisation in the housing sector, is seeking a talented Management Accountant to join their dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the financial management of their development programme. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring high-quality financial information, insight, and advice is provided to the Development function and wider leadership team.
My client is happy to consider candidates outside of the housing so long it is working with another public sector organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the production of monthly management accounts and financial forecasts related to the development programme. Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting, highlighting risks, opportunities, and variances. Assist in preparing financial information for corporate management accounts, including intercompany consolidation. Provide financial support to budget holders, enabling effective financial planning and performance management. Lead specific areas of the budgeting process, driving continuous improvement in financial systems and processes. Prepare and maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations with a focus on accuracy and clarity. Support the preparation of statutory accounts and regulatory returns in line with organisational policies. Conduct financial appraisals of new development opportunities, identifying risks and supporting investment decisions. Maintain financial systems and records to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations. Collaborate with colleagues across Finance and the wider organisation to provide a value-adding financial service.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong financial analysis and problem-solving skills. Ability to interpret and communicate complex financial information clearly. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities. Ability to build effective relationships with internal stakeholders. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other financial systems. A continuous improvement mindset.
Criteria:
Essential:
AAT Level 3 qualified or equivalent. Strong knowledge of accounting practises and financial reporting. Experience in producing and managing monthly management accounts. Ability to communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
