Electrical Engineer (Ashford - Kent)
We are seeking an Electrical Engineering Specialist to join a busy Estates team, ensuring the safe, compliant and efficient operation of critical engineering systems across a healthcare estate.
This is a hands-on role combining fault finding, maintenance, compliance and project work across a diverse range of building services and infrastructure.
The Role
As an Electrical Engineering Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving a wide variety of electrical and mechanical systems that support the day-to-day operation of the organisation.
Your duties will include:
Diagnosing and repairing faults on electrical distribution systems, switchgear, emergency lighting, HVAC plant, BMS controls and Air Handling Units (AHUs) Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities Supporting system upgrades, refurbishments, installations and equipment replacement projects Reviewing completed maintenance works to ensure quality, compliance and performance standards are achieved Troubleshooting technical issues and identifying long-term solutions to prevent recurring faults Assisting with risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work Working closely with managers, engineers and contractors to deliver maintenance and improvement programmes Maintaining accurate records through CAFM and digital maintenance systems Supporting statutory compliance activities and ensuring engineering standards are maintained Participating in emergency response situations and providing technical support when required
Essential Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must demonstrate:
A City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent qualification in an electrical discipline A minimum of 3 years' experience within a complex engineering, facilities management or critical services environment Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across building services systems Good knowledge of electrical distribution, emergency lighting, HVAC systems, AHUs and BMS controls The ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications Experience carrying out safe isolations and working safely on electrical systems Excellent communication and organisational skills A proactive, solution-focused approach with the ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively A strong understanding of health and safety responsibilities and safe working practices Flexibility to work a rotating shift pattern and respond to urgent engineering issues when required A full UK driving licence
