An innovative space and defence company near Paris is hiring a senior Mechanical Engineer to own precision mechanism, structural, and thermal designs for optical payload hardware.
Key Responsibilities
Precision Mechanisms & Structures: Design motion stages, bearing assemblies, launch load paths, and opto-mechanical benches from concept through CAD and manufacturing. Thermal & Analysis: Lead thermal architecture, heater zoning, and thermo-elastic/structural analysis (vibration, modal, line-of-sight stability). Testing & Supply Chain: Qualify mechanisms for space environments (vacuum tribology, life testing), manage suppliers, and lead hardware through TVAC and vibration testing.
Requirements
Degree: Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Must-Have: Non-negotiable space hardware experience (vacuum, launch loads, thermal cycling, cleanliness). Track Record: Hands-on experience taking parts from CAD through fabrication, assembly, and test. Tools & Skills: Parametric CAD (e.g., SolidWorks), FEA/thermal analysis, and tight tolerance stack-ups for optical systems. Practicalities: Fully on-site role near Paris. Flexible contract options available (open to both Permanent/CDI and Contract). Fluent English; French is a plus.
