Opportunity
At Pulse Doctors, we are delighted to be working in partnership with a leading independent UK provider of elective care to recruit an experienced, GDC-registered Consultant in Oral Surgery to lead and deliver on a part time basis a high-volume elective oral surgery service from their Bristol/Gloucestershire site. The post-holder will manage a broad caseload of NHS-referred patients across the full scope of outpatient and minor surgical oral surgery, working closely with local referring dental practitioners, the BSW ICB, and the wider specialist dental network.
Part-time. 16 hours per week working Mondays and /or Fridays only
This is an excellent opportunity for a consultant seeking a focused elective practice in a modern, well-resourced environment, with no out-of-hours on-call commitment and strong administrative and clinical support
The appointed Consultant is contracted to remove teeth, roots, impacted wisdom teeth and perform coronectomies. You have the support of a radiology department who take OPGs and CBCTs. In the well-equipped theatre complex there is an admissions team, experienced oral surgery dental and scrub nurses. You are supported by Operating Department Practitioners while sedating the patients so that you can deliver an efficient, safe and smooth patient experience.
Treatment will be delivered under local anaesthetic or LA with intravenous sedation (single drug, midazolam sedation). Accreditation in IV sedation having delivered 20 supervised cases or a willingness to train is essential.
The post holder will be required to participate in audit, research and management of the service.
It is anticipated that the post holder will engage in specific management tasks and contribute to departmental meetings and bi-monthly clinical governance meetings in agreement with the Medical Director.
Essential Criteria to Apply
You will need to be GDC registered and either on the Specialist List or held an Associate Specialist role with evidence of extensive experience.
You must be capable of delivering a variety of oral surgery procedures with LA, and experience of IV sedation-ideally with certification to work independently or working towards this.
You should have experience in requesting and interpreting small volume CBCTs, with a level two certificate desirable.
