Job Title: Senior Software Developer
Organisation: Northern Ireland Assembly
Contract: Temporary - Full Time Hours - Contract duration to end Feb 2027
Salary: AG7 - £36,122 (+ £7,542 salary supplement p.a.)
As a Senior Software Developer within the Information Systems Office, you will be responsible for planning, developing and integrating related software components using an Agile approach. You will work across a wide spectrum of technology, from simple workflow database applications to highly complex, business-critical systems that interface with cloud technologies. Operating with a full understanding of whole-system architecture, you will write clean, secure code, mentor junior colleagues and collaborate directly with Assembly Members and staff to deliver essential public service solutions.

Essential Qualifications
Applicants must have:
A Bachelor's (or higher) Degree in Computing, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a discipline with at least 50% computing content; AND at least 2 years' relevant experience in each of the core areas below; OR An HND or Foundation Degree in Computing or a discipline with at least 50% computing content; AND at least 3 years' relevant experience in each of the core areas below:
Required Experience Areas:
Application Development: Microsoft Visual Studio (2015+), C#.NET, ASP.NET, Web programming (HTML, JavaScript, CSS), MVC Architecture, Entity Framework, Azure Functions and Team Foundation Server/Azure DevOps. DevOps & Agile: Agile development processes, Azure DevOps, and Azure Boards (or similar). Database Design: Logical/physical data modelling, MS SQL Server (2012+) and Structured Query Language (SQL).

Responsibilities
Agile Analysis & Solution Design: Plan and lead user story development, create technical specifications, design integrations with embedded security controls and manage cross-system dependencies. Software Development & Maintenance: Design, code, test, and document software using C#.NET, ASP.Net Core MVC, Azure Functions, EF Core and SQL Server, while supporting legacy VB.Net/WinForms systems. Cloud & CMS Integration: Support and provide technical guidance on Microsoft Azure, Office 365, Teams, and SharePoint, as well as 3rd-party CMS platforms (EPiServer, Umbraco). Operational & System Support: Maintain business-critical procedural systems for Plenary and Committee business, and provide ICT support, training and documentation to Assembly Members and staff. Leadership & Strategy: Line manage, coach, and quality-assure Software Developers, while assisting with project management, IT security and policy development.
