SENIOR CLIENT ACCOUNTANT
Scanlans Property Management • Competitive • Hybrid - Manchester
ROLE OVERVIEW
You will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the financial integrity of our residential block management portfolio, ensuring service charge accounts are accurate, transparent and delivered on time. Working in a hybrid pattern, you will split your week between home and our Manchester office at Carvers Warehouse, Suite 2b, 77 Dale Street, Manchester, M1 2HG, collaborating closely with property managers, clients, suppliers and the wider finance team.
You will bring a calm, solutions-focused approach to complex reconciliations, year-end processes and client reporting. Your expertise will help our teams make informed decisions, build trust with stakeholders and continuously improve how we manage client money, service charges and reserves.
ROLE EXPECTATIONS
Most days, you will manage the full service charge accounting cycle for a defined portfolio: setting budgets, monitoring spend, reconciling funds and producing clear, timely reports. You’ll partner with property managers on financial queries, oversee supplier payments and credit control, and prepare robust year-end accounts ready for review and audit.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
Service charge budgets, quarterly reports and year-end accounts delivered accurately and on or ahead of schedule. Zero-tolerance focus on reconciliation differences, with issues identified early and resolved promptly. Property managers and clients feel fully supported, informed and confident in the numbers. Cashflow, arrears and supplier payments are proactively managed to agreed KPIs. Portfolios are audit-ready at all times, with clear working papers and controls evidenced. Continuous improvements implemented that simplify processes and enhance data quality.
HOW YOU'LL SPEND MOST OF YOUR TIME
Preparing service charge budgets, forecasts and variance analyses for your portfolio. Completing monthly bank reconciliations, inter-account transfers and control account reviews. Producing management reports and year-end packs, and coordinating with external accountants/auditors. Managing arrears and debt recovery actions in partnership with property managers. Overseeing supplier onboarding, invoice approvals and BACS payment runs. Responding to client, leaseholder and internal queries with clear, timely updates.
WHO THIS ROLE IS FOR
You enjoy ownership of a busy portfolio and take pride in getting the detail right first time. You communicate complex financial information simply and build strong working relationships. You thrive in a hybrid environment, managing your time effectively across home and office. You’re proactive, organised and calm under pressure, with a problem-solving mindset.
