We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to support the inspection, servicing, overhaul, and repair of aircraft ground support equipment (GSE) and associated tooling.
This role is split between our workshop facility and customer sites across the UK. You will carry out both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repair activities, ensuring equipment remains safe, compliant, and operational within demanding aviation environments.
While hydraulic knowledge is advantageous, this position is primarily mechanically focused, involving strip-downs, rebuilds, inspections, and general engineering maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on aircraft ground support equipment and generic tooling.
- Conduct mechanical inspections, servicing, and overhaul activities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on customer sites and within the workshop
- Strip, inspect, refurbish, and rebuild mechanical assemblies
- Working on items such as lifting equipment, jacks, tow-bars, and ground handling equipment etc
- Replace bearings, seals, bushes, mechanical linkages, and associated components
- Assist with hydraulic system maintenance where required
- Interpret engineering drawings and maintenance manuals
- Complete service reports and customer documentation accurately
- Ensure compliance with UK safety regulations and industry standards
- Maintain high housekeeping and workshop safety standards
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong background in mechanical maintenance and repair
- Experience carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
- Confident in mechanical fault finding and diagnostics
- Experience working on-site at customer premises
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Good understanding of safe working practices
- Full manual UK driving licence (essential for site visits)
- Ability to use a tablet to complete maintenance report write ups
- Must be able to gain an airport pass – therefore clean personal record and ability to show previous work/educational history up to 5 years prior with references.
Desirable
- Experience working with aircraft ground support equipment
