Are you an experienced Software Engineer looking to join a leader in geospatial services for the Electric Utilities market? Required Skills & Experience of the Software Engineer:
Strong Python: Writing and maintaining data pipelines. Able to solve complex problems. Excellent written, oral and visual communication skills to explain complex information. Enjoys and works well in a team-based environment, and is self-motivated to individually succeed. Understands and implements best practices of modern Software Engineering including Agile Software Development, Automated Testing, Configuration Management principles and DevOps. Has the rigour and care to manage and control changes to development, testing and production environments.
Desirable skills & experience:
C# / .NET: experience building libraries and command-line tools with .NET 8.0+. Comfortable reading and safely modifying existing/legacy codebases; good documentation and PR practices. SQL Databases: PostgreSQL and SQLite experience (schema design, migrations, basicperformance tuning). Orchestration & data engineering: experience with workflow/orchestration tools (Prefect or similar) and distributed task queuing (e.g. Celery, RabbitMQ). Testing & automation: writing unit and basic integration tests as well as automating test runs as part of CI pipelines e.g. GitHub Actions. AI-assisted development: comfortable using AI-assisted tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to increase productivity, while validating and testing any AI-generated code and understanding its limitations. Experience building or maintaining REST APIs, microservices, event-driven services, and message-driven patterns. Containerisation: experience using Docker and deploying containerised applications
