Quality Manager - FMCG / Manufacturing
Location: Thetford, Norfolk Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time Working Hours: Monday to Friday
The Opportunity
An established manufacturer supplying products to both residential and commercial markets is seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead and develop its quality and compliance function.
This is an excellent opportunity for a quality professional with a strong background in FMCG manufacturing, ideally within the chemical, cleaning products, household or related sectors. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining technical compliance, driving continuous improvement, supporting audits, and ensuring the highest quality standards are achieved across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the primary technical contact for quality and compliance matters. Lead and support external audits while planning and conducting internal audits. Coordinate and manage customer audits, ensuring successful outcomes. Oversee customer complaint investigations and implement effective corrective and preventative actions. Audit and improve systems against GMP and ISO standards. Manage incoming raw materials and components, ensuring suitability before production use. Conduct supplier reviews and assessments to ensure quality, consistency and ethical sourcing standards are maintained. Review and maintain technical procedures, policies and SOPs. Ensure all technical documentation is accurate, up to date and available on relevant customer and regulatory portals. Manage customer and compliance portals, ensuring timely updates and responses. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Support additional quality and technical projects as required.
Skills & Experience Required
Minimum 5 years' experience within a Quality, Technical or Compliance role. Minimum 5 years' experience within an FMCG manufacturing environment. Experience within the chemical, household, cleaning products or related industries would be advantageous. Strong knowledge of BRCGS standards and audit requirements. Experience conducting internal audits and supporting external audits. Understanding of COMAH regulations and associated compliance requirements. Strong risk assessment and risk mitigation experience. Excellent report writing and technical documentation skills. Experience managing controlled documentation and quality management systems. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to proactively identify and address technical issues. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels. High attention to detail and a methodical approach to quality management. Degree qualified in a scientific discipline is preferred.
