Are you a Mechanical Engineer with experience in manufacturing and Design for Manufacture, looking to play a key role in the development of innovative products from initial concept through to production?
Do you enjoy working alongside design engineers, challenging designs, solving manufacturing problems and improving the way products are designed, assembled and manufactured?
The company are a leading UK manufacturer of high-quality heating products, with a strong reputation for innovation, engineering excellence and product development.
Based in Exeter, the business operates a significant Research & Development function focused on developing and improving its product range, combining detailed engineering design with advanced manufacturing processes.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to join the R&D team and take ownership of the manufacturability of new products, ensuring designs are technically robust, repeatable, cost-effective and suitable for efficient production.
The Role:
Provide manufacturing and assembly guidance throughout the new product development process Review and challenge product designs to improve manufacturability, repeatability and cost-effectiveness Identify manufacturing, assembly, tooling and material challenges at the early stages of product development Assess component and assembly tolerances, fastening methods, material selection and access requirements Ensure designs are suitable for efficient and repeatable manufacture using the intended production processes Influence component geometry, tolerances and part standardisation to improve manufacturing efficiency
The Person:
Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline Understanding of sheet metal manufacturing and fabrication processes
