Field Service Engineer (Mechanical Bias - 70/30)
Location: UK & Ireland (with some international travel) Salary: £43,000-£50,000 + OTE £60,000-£70,000 Hours: 7am-4pm, Days Benefits: Company Car/Van, 5% Pension, Life Assurance, Permanent Healthcare, 25 Days Holiday + 8 Bank Holidays
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Field Service Engineer (Mechanical Bias) to join our established UK service team. This role has a strong mechanical focus (approx. 70/30), supporting customers across the UK & Ireland with occasional international travel.
You will work on a wide range of processing and packaging machinery , carrying out installation, commissioning, servicing, planned maintenance and mechanical fault-finding.
The role will involve working with complex industrial equipment within food, pharmaceutical and other high-specification manufacturing environments , ensuring machinery is operating safely, efficiently and reliably.
There will also be opportunities for global travel to company headquarters and manufacturing sites in Japan, as well as subsidiaries across North America, Europe and Asia.
Key Responsibilities
Installation, commissioning, service and repair of processing and packaging equipment Mechanical fault-finding, diagnostics and breakdown response Planned and preventative maintenance of industrial machinery Mechanical strip-down, rebuild and component replacement Working on gearboxes, bearings, drives, conveyors, pumps, pneumatics and associated mechanical systems Setting, aligning and commissioning machinery to ensure optimum performance Providing technical support to customers across the UK & Ireland Working alongside electrical and controls engineers to diagnose and resolve complex equipment faults Delivering high standards of customer service and technical expertise Supporting continuous improvement, equipment upgrades and machinery modifications Producing service reports and maintaining accurate customer records
Experience / Skills / Qualifications
HNC/HND Mechanical Engineering or equivalent mechanical qualification Strong mechanical engineering and fault-finding experience Experience working with industrial machinery, production equipment or packaging machinery Competent with mechanical strip-down, rebuild, alignment and component replacement Good understanding of mechanical power transmission, bearings, gearboxes, pneumatics and conveyors Experience within food, pharmaceutical or FMCG manufacturing preferred Previous field service or customer-facing engineering experience desirable Basic electrical/controls knowledge would be advantageous Ability to work independently in the field and manage customer relationships Willingness to travel extensively throughout the UK & Ireland, with occasional international travel
