Are you an experienced Heat Pump Engineer ready to take the next step in your career?
Cole Connections is recruiting for a specialist renewable energy business delivering heat pump, Solar PV and battery storage projects.
We're looking for a technically strong, hands-on engineer who is ready for greater responsibility. You'll take ownership of quality across projects, inspect work on site, support engineers and ensure installations meet the required standards, while remaining practically involved when needed.
This is an excellent opportunity to progress towards Quality Assurance and Project Management , without moving into a purely desk-based role.
What you'll be doing
Carrying out technical and quality inspections across heat pump, Solar PV and battery storage installations Inspecting workmanship and ensuring installations meet design, manufacturer and industry standards Commissioning, servicing and fault-finding air source heat pump systems Identifying defects and ensuring remedial actions are completed Supporting Solar PV and battery storage projects Providing technical guidance and constructive feedback to engineers and subcontractors Supporting project managers with technical and site issues Reviewing schematics, specifications and technical information Completing inspection, commissioning and service documentation Conducting professional customer handovers Remaining hands-on when required, including fault-finding, remedial work and supporting complex installations
What we're looking for
First and foremost, you'll be a strong and experienced Heat Pump Engineer with enough technical knowledge to confidently assess the quality of other engineers' work, while still being happy to roll your sleeves up yourself.
You'll need:
Strong practical air source heat pump experience Heat pump commissioning, servicing and fault-finding experience Good knowledge of domestic heating systems, hydraulics, cylinders, pumps, valves and controls Practical Solar PV experience Practical knowledge of battery storage systems Experience carrying out technical inspections or assessing workmanship Ability to interpret schematics, technical drawings and manufacturer specifications Experience completing customer handovers Strong communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach Full UK driving licence
You'll hold recognised qualifications relevant to your engineering background. These could include plumbing and heating, heat pump installation/commissioning, Solar PV, Unvented Hot Water, Water Regulations, 18th Edition, electrical energy storage, MCS or similar. You don't need to hold every qualification listed.
