About the Role:
The Monitoring Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting the delivery of technically advanced Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) and remote monitoring solutions across infrastructure, industrial and energy sector projects. This role combines hands-on engineering with technical problem-solving, enabling the successful deployment, commissioning and operation of monitoring systems that generate valuable real-time data and insights for customers.
Working with advanced sensing technologies and data acquisition systems, you will play a key role throughout the project lifecycle, from mobilisation and installation through to data delivery and long-term remote monitoring. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop specialist expertise within a growing area of engineering, with a clear pathway onto opportunities into Technical Specialist or Project Management roles within a global engineering organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Delivery and Technical Support:
Support the successful delivery of monitoring projects from mobilisation through to commissioning. Act as a technical lead on site during the installation, configuration and commissioning of monitoring systems. Deploy, configure and test sensors, data acquisition hardware, communications equipment and monitoring technologies. Verify system functionality, performance and data integrity prior to transition into live monitoring. Support the integration of monitoring systems into remote monitoring and data delivery platforms. Assist with troubleshooting, fault diagnosis and resolution of technical issues during installation and commissioning activities.
Engineering and Technical Excellence:
Produce and maintain technical documentation, installation records, commissioning reports and project documentation. Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of monitoring system installation and commissioning procedures. Support project planning activities, including equipment preparation, mobilisation and site coordination. Provide technical support and guidance to Monitoring Systems Technicians and other project team members where required.
