About the Opportunity
Zest Optical are supporting a well-established, fast-growing online retailer of prescription eyewear and luxury sunglasses, operating from their Head Office in Bury, Greater Manchester. Built on a strong reputation for quality and service, the business has invested heavily in its in-house Optical Glazing Lab - bringing in modern edging and glazing technology to keep pace with a growing prescription eyewear operation. This is a business that treats the lab as central to what they do, not an afterthought behind the scenes.
The Role
Optical Glazing Technician role within a modern, in-house optical lab supplying prescription spectacles and sunglasses Manufacture and glaze prescription eyewear to a consistently high standard, working accurately and efficiently Read and interpret optical prescriptions, including more complex and varifocal lenses Handle lens selection, blocking, edging, fitting and finishing across a variety of lens and frame types Quality-check completed work and troubleshoot glazing and lens-fitting issues as they arise Work with rimless, sports and wrap glazing alongside standard prescription work Follow Health & Safety, COSHH and company procedures throughout
What We're Looking For
Previous experience in an optical glazing laboratory is essential Confident using focimeters, blockers, edgers and glazing equipment Good knowledge of spectacle lenses, coatings and frame materials Comfortable interpreting a full range of optical prescriptions Experience with rimless, sports or wrap glazing would be an advantage Strong attention to detail and the ability to stay focused on precision work Reliable, organised and a good team player
