Learning Support Worker - Torfaen
Academics are a specialist education recruitment agency working with schools across Torfaen and the surrounding areas. We are currently recruiting for a Learning Support Worker to join a caring and inclusive primary school, supporting pupils in the classroom.
The school is looking for someone patient, encouraging and consistent who can help pupils overcome barriers to learning and reach their potential.
Key responsibilities:
Supporting pupils during lessons, including one-to-one and small-group work
Helping children access and understand classroom activities
Encouraging independence, confidence and positive behaviour
Supporting classroom routines and planned activities
Helping develop pupils' social, communication and learning skills
Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team
The ideal candidate:
Previous experience supporting children or young people
Experience in a school, childcare, care or similar setting
Strong communication skills, patience and resilience
A positive and nurturing approach
Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality
Education Workforce Council registration
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply
Two recent professional references
