Robert Half is delighted to shortlist candidates for a new Management Accountant to join a growing and diverse business with interests across property, investment and commercial operations. Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, you will take ownership of management accounting, financial reporting and financial control across a varied portfolio of entities. This role offers exposure to a broad range of activities, including management reporting, cash flow forecasting, budgeting, business partnering and process improvement, within a complex multi-entity environment. The business is based in an attractive city centre location with hybrid working on offer.
The successful candidate will also support and mentor an Assistant Accountant while contributing to ongoing improvements in systems, controls and reporting processes.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting analysis for a portfolio of entities. Manage monthend processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments, intercompany accounting and balance sheet reconciliations. Review and support the work of the Assistant Accountant, providing guidance and development where required. Prepare cash flow forecasts and monitor funding requirements across multiple entities. Support budgeting and forecasting activities, analysing variances and providing meaningful financial insight. Produce financial reporting and commentary for senior stakeholders. Support accounting activities relating to property and investment transactions, including acquisitions, disposals and development projects. Prepare and review VAT returns and assist with wider tax and compliance requirements. Assist with statutory accounts preparation and year-end audit processes. Maintain strong financial controls and ensure accurate financial records. Identify opportunities to improve reporting, systems and finance processes through automation and technology. Support ad hoc projects, financial analysis, modelling and business initiatives.
About You
Qualified, part-qualified or actively studying towards ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent. Strong qualified-by-experience candidates will also be considered. Experience preparing management accounts within a multi-entity, group or complex business environment. Strong understanding of month-end close, reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management. Previous experience supporting or reviewing the work of junior team members would be advantageous. Advanced Excel skills and strong systems capability. Experience using cloud-based accounting software such as Xero or similar. Good understanding of UK accounting principles, VAT and financial controls. Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
