Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: Leeds Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
An established civil engineering contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team.
This is a senior-level opportunity for a commercially astute Quantity Surveyor who can take responsibility for a portfolio of projects while also leading, supporting and developing members of the commercial team.
The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor , you will take commercial responsibility for multiple civil engineering projects and play a key role in ensuring commercial performance across your portfolio.
Your responsibilities will include:
Taking full commercial responsibility for a portfolio of projects Managing, mentoring and supporting members of the commercial team Providing commercial and contractual advice to project and operational teams Reviewing and drafting contractual correspondence Producing commercial reports for senior management Monitoring contract compliance and maintaining accurate contractual records Building and maintaining strong client relationships Monitoring project costs against agreed budgets Managing cost and financial reporting systems Leading monthly financial reviews and CVRs Forecasting final project costs, sales and margins Managing variations and change control processes Preparing and submitting valuations and applications for payment Identifying commercial risks and opportunities and implementing appropriate mitigation strategies Overseeing subcontractor payments, variations and final accounts Supporting the tender process where required Promoting and maintaining high standards of health and safety
The successful Senior Quantity Surveyor will have the opportunity to work across a varied portfolio while helping to shape and develop the wider commercial function.
About You
To be considered for this Senior Quantity Surveyor position, you will ideally have:
Experience working within a contracting environment A strong background in civil engineering Previous experience managing multiple projects or a portfolio of works The ability to confidently manage commercial and contractual matters Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues at all levels Experience supporting, mentoring or developing junior members of a commercial team Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently
