AI Enablement Lead – Software & Product Engineering
6 to 12 month contract | Up to £1,250 per day | Outside IR35 | Manchester or London | Hybrid
We’re working with an established software and technology business looking to hire an AI Enablement Lead to help change the way its product and engineering teams build and deliver software.
This is not an AI strategy role, a research role or traditional change management.
We’re looking for someone genuinely hands on with GenAI who can work directly with software engineering and product teams to embed AI into the product development lifecycle.
The business has already started its AI journey. Teams are experimenting with the technology and there is good internal capability. The next step is bringing in somebody who is further ahead of that curve and has already applied this successfully within a commercial software environment.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll work directly with engineering and product teams, helping them move from experimenting with AI to using it as part of their everyday way of working.
That could include AI assisted software development, agents, skills, development workflows, automated testing and review, and new approaches to how software is planned, built and maintained.
Experience with Claude Code, GitHub Copilot or comparable AI development tooling would be highly relevant.
You’ll embed with teams and work squad by squad, helping engineers understand what is possible, implementing new approaches and developing repeatable practices that can scale across the wider business.
There are already identified areas to tackle, but we also want someone curious enough to identify opportunities the business hasn’t considered yet.
Ultimately, this is about delivering measurable improvements in engineering productivity, efficiency and the value delivered to customers.
What we’re looking for
Your background could vary, but we’re particularly interested in people who have come through software engineering, product engineering or technology leadership and have subsequently gone deep into applied GenAI.
You don’t need five years of AI experience.
You do need meaningful, recent experience of actually applying GenAI within software and product development and be able to talk specifically about what you personally built, implemented or changed.
Relevant experience could include:
Claude Code, GitHub Copilot or similar AI development tooling Agents, skills and agentic workflows AI development harnesses and orchestration AI assisted software engineering Automated testing and code review Embedding AI across the software and product development lifecycle Taking engineering teams from experimentation into repeatable adoption Measuring productivity and efficiency improvements
