What you’ll be taking ownership of as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer:

Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) on a wide range of systems, including HVAC systems, boilers, pumps, ventilation (AHU, FCU, CB) hot and cold-water systems, and plumbing installations. Respond promptly to reactive maintenance tasks, troubleshooting and resolving faults to maintain safe and efficient operation of university buildings. Ensure efficient operation of plant rooms, mechanical infrastructure, and associated systems through routine inspection and servicing. Ensure all maintenance and repair work complies with relevant statutory regulations and industry standards (e.g. pressure systems, water hygiene, gas safety where applicable). Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and statutory compliance checks using the university’s CAFM (Computer-Aided Facilities Management) app. Support water hygiene management, including temperature monitoring and flushing, in line with L8 / Legionella control procedures as well as carry out water hygiene risk assessment remedials. To undertake training and qualify as Authorised/Responsible/Competent Persons as required. Support apprentices or junior engineers with knowledge-sharing and mentorship where appropriate. Forming part of the dedicated-on call engineering team with scheduled / rota on call weeks.
