Job Overview
Pulse is currently seeking a skilled and motivated Band 6/7 Speech and Language Therapist to join a dedicated Head and Neck Cancer team in Plymouth on a locum basis. This exciting opportunity is available for an immediate start and offers flexible full-time or part-time hours over a 6-month contract.
You will play a key role in providing specialist assessment, diagnosis, and rehabilitation for patients with communication and swallowing difficulties associated with head and neck cancer. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will deliver high-quality, patient-centred care across the cancer pathway, supporting patients to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Assess, diagnose, and manage adults with communication and swallowing disorders related to head and neck cancer.
Deliver evidence-based interventions for patients undergoing surgical, medical, and radiotherapy treatments.
Provide pre-operative counselling and post-operative rehabilitation, including voice restoration where appropriate.
Work collaboratively with ENT consultants, oncologists, dietitians, specialist nurses, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with HCPC and local service standards.
Contribute to service development and support the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this role, you must have:
A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
HCPC registration.
Previous experience working as a Band 6 or Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist.
Experience managing adults with head and neck cancer and dysphagia.
Excellent communication, organisational, and multidisciplinary working skills.
The ability to work independently while managing a varied caseload.
