Interim Senior Public Health Officer (Sexual Health)
£400-£500 per day | 6-Month Contract | Birmingham (Hybrid)
We are currently recruiting for an Interim Senior Programme Officer (Sexual Health) to join a large public sector organisation's Public Health team on a temporary basis. This role has been created to provide additional capacity during a period of maternity leave cover and recruitment challenges, ensuring the continued delivery of key strategic sexual health priorities and commissioning programmes.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced programme or project professional with a background in public health, healthcare commissioning, local government or the NHS. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting strategic programme delivery, commissioning activity, performance management and stakeholder engagement across a high-profile Sexual Health portfolio.
The Role
Reporting into the Service Lead, you will provide senior programme management support across a range of strategic workstreams, helping to drive delivery, monitor performance and ensure effective contract and budget management. Key areas of focus include supporting the refresh of sexual health strategies and action plans, overseeing commissioning programmes, managing provider relationships and producing reports and briefings for senior leaders and partners.
Essential Experience
Candidates should be able to demonstrate:
Public Health experience. Sexual Health, reproductive health, healthcare commissioning or prevention programme experience. Significant experience in programme or project management within the public sector, local government, NHS or related environments. Experience supporting commissioning, contract management or service improvement programmes. Experience managing complex workstreams involving multiple stakeholders. Strong budget monitoring and financial management skills. Ability to analyse performance data and intelligence, translating findings into practical actions. Experience producing high-quality reports, briefings and presentations for senior audiences. Strong programme governance and organisational skills. Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities. Knowledge of local authority Public Health responsibilities. Experience working across integrated care systems or wider health partnerships.
