Software Technical Lead – Robotics & Advanced Engineering
About the Role
Our client is an established engineering organisation developing innovative software solutions for complex, safety-critical systems. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Software Technical Lead to drive the delivery of advanced software projects and provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
This is an excellent opportunity to combine hands-on software development with technical leadership, working on cutting-edge technologies in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the software delivery of complex engineering projects. Define software architectures for integrated systems. Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle. Translate system requirements into software solutions. Ensure software meets quality, safety and performance standards. Provide technical leadership, mentoring and support to engineering teams. Work closely with customers and internal stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes. Support project planning, effort estimation and continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
You will be an experienced software engineer with strong technical leadership skills and a background delivering complex software solutions.
Essential Skills & Experience
Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience). Significant experience in a senior software engineering or technical leadership role. Strong understanding of software architecture and modern development practices. Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams. Ability to define system and software requirements. Knowledge of software quality, safety principles and secure software development. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Technical Experience
Experience with several of the following technologies is desirable:
C++ Python JavaScript HTML, CSS, XML and JSON Windows and Linux development Backend technologies (Node.js, Django or similar) Docker and containerisation TCP/IP networking and WebSockets SQL and database technologies Software debugging and diagnostic tools Cyber security principles

Experience with any of the following would be beneficial:
Real-time or distributed systems Control or automation software Qt or .NET GUI development Messaging frameworks (e.g. RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ) REST APIs and web services Video or media streaming technologies
