Are you a passionate and dedicated educator with experience supporting learners with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)? We are currently seeking a PMLD Lecturer to join a supportive and inclusive Further Education setting in Harrow.
This is an excellent opportunity for a compassionate professional who is committed to helping learners with complex needs develop independence, communication skills and achieve their full potential in a safe and engaging learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated learning sessions for learners with PMLD and complex learning needs. Develop individualised learning programmes that support learners' Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs). Support learners in developing communication, independence, sensory and life skills. Create an inclusive and positive learning environment that promotes participation and achievement. Work collaboratively with Learning Support Assistants, Therapists, Parents and Multi-Disciplinary Teams. Assess, monitor and record learner progress against individual targets. Develop and adapt learning resources to meet the needs of learners with varying cognitive, sensory and physical needs. Promote learner wellbeing, confidence, independence and social interaction. Ensure safeguarding, health and safety and equality and diversity policies are consistently followed. Participate in reviews, meetings and quality assurance processes as required.
Skills & Experience Required
Experience teaching or supporting learners with PMLD, SLD, ASD, Complex Needs or SEND. Strong understanding of differentiated teaching and inclusive learning strategies. Experience developing personalised learning plans and target-setting. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to build positive relationships with learners, families and professionals. Strong classroom management and behaviour support skills. Patient, nurturing and learner-centred approach. Knowledge of EHCPs and SEND frameworks. Experience within Further Education, Supported Learning or Specialist Education settings is desirable.
Qualifications Required
Teaching Qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS or equivalent). Level 2 English and Maths (minimum). Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) desirable but not essential. SEND, PMLD or Specialist Education training desirable. Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
