Senior Research Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Hampshire, South Coast

We're supporting a leading research-led organisation in the search for a Senior Research Infrastructure Engineer to play a key role in the development and delivery of advanced research computing services.
This is an opportunity to work closely with researchers, technical teams and senior stakeholders, helping shape the future direction of research infrastructure while supporting projects across high performance computing, AI and data-intensive research.
The Role
As a Senior Research Infrastructure Engineer, you'll combine hands-on technical expertise with technical leadership, ensuring the ongoing delivery, development and improvement of critical research platforms.
Key responsibilities include:
Developing and maintaining large-scale research computing infrastructure Supporting HPC environment Managing enterprise storage and associated services Working closely with researchers to understand requirements and develop effective solutions Contributing to infrastructure design, roadmaps and future platform development Leading technical workstreams and small project teams when required Producing technical documentation, guidance and training materials Working collaboratively with internal teams and external technology partners Contributing to research and funding initiatives where appropriate
About You
We're keen to speak with experienced infrastructure professionals who have a strong background in complex technical environments and enjoy working closely with a research community.
You'll bring significant experience across at least two of the following areas, with deep expertise in one:
High Performance Computing (HPC) Linux systems administration Enterprise storage platforms High performance networking Interactive computing environments GPU-enabled infrastructure Scientific or research computing
You'll also have experience:
Leading technical projects or workstreams Solving complex infrastructure challenges Communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Producing technical documentation and delivering training Translating user requirements into scalable technical solutions
