Job Title: Voice/Networking Engineer Location: Quedgeley Gloucester Contract Type: Permanent Salary: £35,772 - £47,046 per annum
Overview: Our client, Gloucestershire Police are seeking a Voice/Networking Engineer to join their team in Quedgeley. This role requires a candidate with substantial experience in both voice and networking technologies, with a particular emphasis on voice systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine configuration, installation, and reconfiguration of hardware and software as per organisational standards. Employ network management tools to investigate, diagnose, and resolve network issues, adhering to service level agreements. Conduct planning, installation, upgrades, and maintenance of local and wide area networks for data, voice, text, or image communication. Execute surveys to determine network connection requirements. Provide first-level support at a help desk, resolving the majority of inquiries and escalating when necessary. Carry out system backups and restore data using standard procedures and tools. Generate reports on network load and performance statistics using management system tools. Install or remove hardware/software following provided installation instructions, ensuring clear communication with affected users. Maintain accurate records of all hardware/software changes for configuration management. Address malfunctions by coordinating with experienced colleagues and external resources to maximise network asset utilisation. Participate in 24-hour on-call and out-of-hours rotas, typically one week in four.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
Essential : Experience with Cisco CUCM, UCCE, MS Teams, SIP, and voice networking. Broader networking expertise, including Solarwinds and LAN/WAN knowledge, is required. Desirable: Knowledge of Cisco LAN/WAN, firewalls (Cisco, Checkpoint, Palo Alto), Cisco ISE, MAB 802.1x, and Cisco Wi-Fi.
Working Pattern: Normal working hours will average 37 per week, with flexibility to accommodate service needs, including potential shift, night, weekend, and public holiday work.
Additional Information:
Vetting Level: The role requires Management Vetting (MV) as a minimum; Security Clearance (SC) is preferred.Due to the police vetting criteria you must have resided within the UK continuously for at least 5 years at the time of application. Mobility: The organisation may request relocation to different posts within Gloucestershire as business needs arise. Training and development: Ongoing training will be provided to maintain relevant skills and knowledge.
