About the Opportunity
An established organisation within the building materials and construction testing sector is seeking a skilled Dry Liner and Joiner to join its technical team on a 6-month temporary contract. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in carpentry, joinery, dry lining or construction who enjoys practical, hands-on work and takes pride in producing quality results.
Working in a specialist testing environment, you will support the construction of full-scale test specimens used in fire, acoustic and structural testing programmes. This role offers the chance to work alongside experienced technical and scientific professionals while contributing to innovative product development and testing activities.
What You'll Be Doing
Build full-scale test specimens and prepare materials for testing activities. Interpret technical drawings, specifications and customer requirements. Support fire, acoustic and structural testing projects. Install and construct dry lining and metal stud systems. Maintain workshop tools, machinery and laboratory workspaces. Assist with the movement and collection of materials and equipment. Provide practical support to technical and scientific teams during testing. Travel to external laboratories and construction sites when required. Monitor stock levels and ensure materials are available when needed. Support continuous improvement initiatives across workshop and laboratory operations. Complete work accurately, safely and to agreed deadlines.
What We're Looking For
City & Guilds qualification in Carpentry & Joinery, NVQ equivalent, or NVQ Level 2 in Dry Lining/Construction. Experience working with dry lining systems and metal stud construction. Strong understanding of safe working practices, risk assessments and method statements.
