Electrical Maintenance Engineer Location: Birmingham Shift Pattern: Continental Shifts (4 days, 4 off, 4 nights, 4 off) Salary £54,000 + overtime
Elevation Recruitment Group is working in partnership with a well-established manufacturing business in Birmingham to recruit an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join their maintenance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a maintenance engineer to play a key role in maintaining production equipment, minimising downtime, and supporting continuous improvement activities within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities of the Electrical Maintenance Engineer
Carry out planned preventative, corrective, and reactive maintenance across plant equipment and site facilities. Install, maintain, and repair electrical and electro-mechanical machinery and equipment. Diagnose faults and perform effective repairs to minimise downtime. Operate and develop preventative maintenance schedules and systems. Program, fault-find, and interrogate Siemens and other PLC systems. Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and provide technical support to production teams. Read, interpret, and update electrical drawings and documentation. Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
About You
To be successful in this Electrical Maintenance Engineer role, you will ideally have:
A recognised electrical apprenticeship and relevant technical qualifications (NVQ, ONC, HNC, or equivalent). 18th Edition Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills. Experience working with PLCs, including fault-finding and interrogation. Knowledge of SCADA systems. Previous experience carrying out preventative maintenance activities. Experience of condition monitoring techniques. The ability to read, interpret, and amend electrical schematics and drawings. Understanding of variable speed drives, including setup and configuration. Good knowledge of IEE Wiring Regulations. Experience with vacuum technology, forges, and presses. Previous experience within a medium to heavy engineering or manufacturing environment. A strong understanding of safe working practices, including Permit to Work (PTW) systems and risk assessments.
