Civil Engineer
Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum - Dependent on candidate's experience Location: Manchester - Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days from home) Job Type: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
We are seeking a Civil Engineer to join our dynamic team, with opportunities available for candidates ranging from graduate/junior level to experienced and senior engineers. Our work is predominantly within the residential development sector, encompassing all elements of design including roads, sewers, drainage, earthworks, plot drainage, and external works. We also engage in major infrastructure projects such as HS2, and are eager to expand our team with professionals who have a broad civil engineering background and a willingness to work across different project types.
Day-to-day of the role:
Engage in civil engineering design, particularly focusing on drainage and infrastructure. Prepare technical reports and drainage strategies, applying relevant design standards and guidance. Work on residential infrastructure design projects, including roads, sewers, levels, earthworks, and plot drainage/external works. Utilize technical software such as Civil 3D (or similar) and drainage design software like MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, or equivalent. Produce and review engineering drawings, undertake calculations, and develop designs from concept through to detailed design. Communicate and coordinate with clients, local authorities, Lead Local Flood Authorities, the Environment Agency, water companies, NAVs, and other project stakeholders.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Experience in civil engineering design, particularly in drainage and infrastructure. Understanding of surface water drainage, foul drainage, SuDS, and flood risk is advantageous. Proficiency in technical software like Civil 3D, MicroDrainage, or similar. AutoCAD drafting skills. Ability to produce and review engineering drawings and undertake calculations. Experience with Section 104 sewer adoption, Section 38 highway adoption, and Section 278 processes is beneficial but not essential. Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
