Our client is a specialist contractor in hard metal roofing, cladding, and façade systems, delivering bespoke solutions for both commercial and residential projects across the UK and internationally. They provide a full end-to-end service from design and fabrication through to installation, working with high-quality materials and offering tailored solutions for projects ranging from simple structures to complex, large-scale developments. The company is seeking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to join its specialist team, working across a diverse range of projects within the metal roofing and cladding industry. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the company's continued commitment to quality, excellence and outstanding craftsmanship. The position offers a balanced mix of site and office-based responsibilities, providing variety and opportunities to work closely with both project teams and clients
Position Duties
Work closely with the surveying team to prepare and manage applications for payment, variations and other commercial documentation. Produce accurate cost reports, reconciliations and financial forecasts on a regular basis. Monitor monthly application figures and ensure relevant departments are kept informed of budgets, financial constraints and potential cost implications. Prepare and issue Early Warning Notices, Extension of Time Requests and other contractual notices in line with project requirements. Review labour schedules and monitor costs against progress achieved on site. Maintain accurate and chronological records of site progress, ensuring information is readily available to support monthly payment applications. Price variations, changes and additional works in accordance with subcontract terms and agreed parameters. Review drawings and compare construction information against tender drawings, identifying and recording any changes or discrepancies. Develop and maintain strong, collaborative working relationships with clients, client representatives, contractors and the supply chain. Undertake regular site visits to assess and record progress, incorporating agreed progress into monthly payment applications and identifying any changes to the contracted scope of works. Manage multiple subcontractors and contractors throughout the project lifecycle. Compile subcontract orders, including preparing enquiries, reviewing pricing and supporting the overall subcontract procurement process. Ensure timely contractual submissions to maximise project profitability and maintain positive cash flow. Identify commercial and contractual risks and make appropriate recommendations to mitigate or overcome them. Maintain a strong understanding of contractual requirements and ensure the company's commercial position is protected at all times. Approximately one day per week will be spent visiting project sites.
