An outstanding opportunity has arisen to join the Medical Oncology team at an NHS Foundation Trust serving the community of West Norfolk and the surrounding region. We are seeking a motivated and clinically excellent Consultant in Medical Oncology with subspecialty expertise in Breast and Hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) oncology.
This is a clinically rich and professionally rewarding post. The successful candidate will hold a central role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) and will work at the heart of our multidisciplinary oncology service. The post spans both outpatient clnic work and the MDT-led management of patients with breast and HPB malignancies, alongside a commitment to the broader medical oncology service.

Key Responsibilities
Breast Oncology
Provide consultant-led medical oncology input for patients with early and advanced breast cancer, including the prescribing and oversight of chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, and hormonal treatments.
Lead and participate in breast oncology outpatient clinics, including new patient consultations, treatment review, and survivorship follow-up.
Contribute to the Breast MDT, working collaboratively with breast surgery, clinical oncology, radiology, pathology, and breast care nursing colleagues.
Oversee the management of complex breast cancer presentations, including metastatic disease, endocrine resistance, and HER2-positive and triple-negative subtypes.
Support the development and delivery of clinical trials and research activity within the breast oncology programme.
Hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) Oncology
Provide medical oncology input for patients with HPB malignancies, including hepatocellular carcinoma, cholangiocarcinoma, pancreatic cancer, and gallbladder cancer.

Support the SACT unit and nursing team in the safe delivery of systemic treatments in line with Trust prescribing policies and national guidelines.
Essential Criteria to Apply
Qualifications & Registration
Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise.
Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Medical Oncology, or within six months of eligibility at the time of interview.
MRCP (UK) or equivalent specialist qualification.
Completion of a recognised higher specialty training programme in Medical Oncology, with demonstrable subspecialty experience in breast and/or HPB oncology.
Clinical Experience & Skills
Demonstrable clinical experience in the management of breast cancer across the disease spectrum, including early, locally advanced, and metastatic disease.
Experience in the management of HPB malignancies, including familiarity with current systemic treatment regimens and MDT working in this tumour group.
Competence in the independent prescribing and monitoring of SACT, including chemotherapy, targeted therapies, and immunotherapy.
Ability to manage oncological emergencies and contribute independently to the medical oncology on-call rota.
Evidence of engagement with clinical trials, audit, and quality improvement in an oncology setting.
