Position: Senior Electrical Design EngineerLocation: Ipswich, UKSalary: Competitive + BenefitsContract Type: Full-time, Permanent About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join a dynamic and collaborative design team working across a diverse portfolio of public and private sector projects. This role offers the opportunity to lead electrical design delivery from concept through to completion, contributing to high-quality, sustainable, and technically robust building solutions. Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and specification of electrical building services systems including lighting, power, fire alarms, data, and security systems Manage projects through RIBA Stages 1-6, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards Coordinate with internal disciplines (mechanical, architectural, structural) and external stakeholders (clients, contractors, consultants) Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians within the team Attend client meetings, design reviews, and site inspections as required Contribute to fee proposals, resource planning, and project programming Ensure designs are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high technical standard Support the development of sustainable and low-carbon design strategies
Qualifications & Experience
Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent) Chartered or working toward CEng status with a relevant institution (e.g., IET, CIBSE) Minimum 5 years' experience in electrical building services design Strong knowledge of UK building regulations, BS standards, and design codes Proficient in designing software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech, and Dialux/Relux Experience working on education, healthcare, residential, or public sector projects is advantageous. Excellent communication, leadership, and client-facing skills
