Senior Software Engineer - AWS / Microservices
Location: Manchester (Hybrid, 1 day per week in office)
Contract (Initial 6 Months, high extension potential) | £500-600pd inside IR35
We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join a fast-paced, high-growth technology division focused on third-party ticketing, integrations and high-availability booking systems. This contract balances greenfield pipeline engineering with the modernisation of legacy cloud infrastructure. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to lead major cloud migration efforts while designing robust, highly scalable backend systems.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables
Over the initial 6 month contract, you will focus on driving primary delivery milestones:
Cloud Migration (On-Prem to AWS): Transitioning existing core services over to AWS with an emphasis on high availability, fault tolerance, webhooks and third-party API connectivity. Legacy Decommissioning & Pipeline Architecture: Eliminating legacy system dependencies by building brand-new, scalable product import pipelines from scratch. Quality & AI Workflows: Building automated test frameworks and embedding modern AI-assisted tools for data transformation and streamlined development workflows.
Key Requirements
AWS & Infrastructure: Deep expertise in AWS cloud environments (hands-on familiarity with Kubernetes or serverless architecture is a major plus). Systems Design & Architecture: Proven capability in designing resilient, distributed backend architectures (Java or general backend engineering background). Quality & Testing: Strong track record of writing clean, highly testable production code and establishing automated test frameworks. Modern Integration Experience: Practical knowledge of building and managing webhooks, REST APIs, and external third-party data integrations. Agile Collaboration: High operational awareness, strong engagement with service health metrics, and a proactive approach to interrogating requirements rather than relying on assumptions.
