Job Title: Consultant in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Grade: Consultant Location: Birmingham, West Midlands Working Hours: 40 hours per week Rate: Competitive — details to be discussed upon application
We are seeking an experienced Consultant in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry to join our NHS client in Birmingham, West Midlands. This locum opportunity is available for an immediate start on a short-term contract.
Key Responsibilities
Provide expert psychiatric care within a CAMHS inpatient setting, specifically within a General Adolescent Unit (GAU)
Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop tailored treatment plans for young people
Act as the Responsible Clinician (RC) and ensure compliance with the Mental Health Act (MHA)
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver holistic, patient-centred care
Supervise junior medical staff and contribute to service development and clinical governance
Qualifications & Experience
Full GMC registration with a licence to practise (essential)
Section 12 approval (essential)
Approved Clinician (AC) status (essential)
Extensive experience in CAMHS, inpatient psychiatry, and GAU settings
Previous experience in a consultant role
