Senior Antibody Engineer (Team Lead)
Permanent, full-time, onsite.
Location: Macclesfield
Up to c£50,000 depending on experience. c£38,000 for recent PhD holders
Our client are a multi-national drug discovery organisation providing a range of research services and internal drug discovery programmes across a variety of disease areas and drug modalities. They are currently seeking to expand their protein science team with the addition of a full-time and permanent Senior Antibody Engineer. This role will have potential for line management, depending on the seniority of the successful candidate.
My client will consider a range of seniorities for this position. This will include those with several years of industry experience, several years of postdoctoral / postgraduate experience or straight PhD students. Salary and responsibilities will vary depending on the experience of the successful candidate.
As a Senior Antibody Engineer, you will be responsible for:
Leading on therapeutic antibody (and potentially other biologics including TCR) lead optimisation projects. Lead on antibody and biologics design projects focused on affinity maturity, humanisation and manufacturing feasibility. This will most be using in silico approaches, not wet lab. Option to lead a small team of scientists (2-4). This will depend on seniority of the successful candidate. Managing projects from start to completion, providing regular data and progress updates to clients and stakeholders via presentations and meetings. Working on multiple projects simultaneously.
To be successful in this position, our client are accepting applications from candidates with the following experience:
PhD in a biological discipline, MSc, BSc or equivalent are also fine (essential). Several years of post-doctoral / post-graduate experience specifically in lead optimisation stages for antibodies (affinity maturation, humanisation etc) (essential – straight PhD studies will be considered if their doctoral research is in this area). In silico experience for structural and genetic analysis (essential). Proven experience in leading complex scientific projects (essential). Prior line management experience of junior scientists (desired). Prior experience in working on client-facing projects (desired). Experience in antibody expression and purification (desired). Must have right to work in the UK without need for visa sponsorship now or the future (essential).
