Complex Needs Teaching Assistant - High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire
Experienced SEN Teaching Assistant required for complex needs provision in High Wycombe.
Experience supporting pupils with complex SEN is essential.
If you have genuine experience supporting children and young people with complex SEN, this Complex Needs Teaching Assistant position offers the opportunity to work within a specialist setting where individual development, communication and independence are central to the curriculum.
The setting supports children and young people aged 4-19 with severe, complex and profound additional needs. Provision includes pupils with complex autism spectrum conditions, language and communication needs, profound physical and cognitive disabilities, Down's syndrome and sensory processing needs.
The setting
The provision supports pupils with severe and complex learning needs, including complex autism, through a life-skills-focused curriculum designed to develop independence and prepare pupils for adulthood. The school also works therapeutically with on-site occupational therapy and speech and language professionals.
Responsibilities
Providing consistent one-to-one and small-group support. Supporting communication, physical, social and emotional development. Implementing individualised learning and support strategies. Supporting sensory regulation and appropriate behaviour approaches. Encouraging independence and life skills. Working closely with teachers, therapists, families and other professionals. Maintaining high standards of safeguarding and pupil welfare.
Essential experience
You MUST have previous experience supporting pupils with SEN.
Ideally, you will have experience working with complex needs, autism, sensory processing needs, profound or severe learning difficulties or associated physical and communication needs.
The role requires resilience, patience, consistency and the ability to build trusting professional relationships.
