We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor or Procurement Professional to provide commercial and procurement support across public sector projects.
The successful candidate will have strong experience in pre-contract activity, procurement, tender evaluation and commercial assessment, with a good understanding of public sector governance and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Provide commercial and procurement support across local authority and public sector projects. Lead and support pre-contract and procurement activities, ensuring projects progress efficiently and in accordance with required procedures. Undertake tender evaluations and commercial assessments, providing clear recommendations to project teams. Prepare and review contract documentation and associated procurement information. Apply public sector procurement requirements, including the Procurement Act 2023, to relevant procurement activities. Support effective commercial governance, risk management and value-for-money assessments. Work collaboratively with project managers, consultants, contractors and wider stakeholders. Provide timely commercial advice and identify potential risks, opportunities and cost implications. Support the delivery of projects in a compliant, commercially robust and cost-effective manner.
Essential Requirements
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Professional or Procurement Professional within local government or the wider public sector. Strong experience delivering pre-contract and procurement activities. Good working knowledge of the Procurement Act 2023 and public sector procurement compliance. Experience in tender evaluation, commercial assessment and contract documentation. Strong understanding of commercial governance, risk management and value-for-money principles. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills. Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary project teams, consultants and contractors. Strong analytical, commercial and problem-solving skills. Ability to provide immediate commercial support and work effectively in a fast-paced project environment.
